Yeah... but Abel didn't have the same names either and well, you know what happened to him. XP
So this is my theory of how to explain the possible connection with Jin and Citan.
I'm trying to avoid spoilers here @_@

This board doesn't have spoiler tags?
[spoilers]let me check[/spoilers]
Edit: I guess it doesn't. Oh well.
I guess you could just go like this:
***********SPOILERS*************
and then put a bunch of space in between the spoiler and the warning.

Nope. No spoiler tags, unfortunately. You could always try to make it hard to read though, and mark it.
SPOILER?? YOU SHOULD HAVE TO HIGHLIGHT THIS TO READ IT! SPOILER END!
Hrm. Guess not.

That would work too. I assumed this board would have spoiler tags, but then again it isn't focused on gaming and books, 'cause that's normally what you need them for. Oh well, I guess I'll do what you said Iyou when it comes to spoilers.

On the lighter posts (every other one) the white will be really hard to read. On the darker ones, it's still hard to read, but not as hard. Just make sure you mark it and I think that'll be okay.
Yeah. I wish I had more control over this board. There's two things that bug me: the lack of spoiler tags and the tiny avatars. Other than that, this board is pretty good.

Tiny avatars? I don't know, I guess I'm used to the other board I go to, 'cause the biggest they go is only 60 x 60, so these ones seem huge to me.

The other board I go to uses 150x200 or something like that. So yeah, these are tiny.

Okay!
Spoilers time!
Since yeah, Jin's death in XS3 and the fact that his body along with Abel and Nephilim, the anima relics, Zohar, merkabah, gnosis, chaos and Kos-Mos were whisked off to the Lost Jersaulem... and the whole thing with Zathustra(sp) was how things would repeat, like a never ending cycle. Remember how Fei and Elly would be reincarnated constantly...? It is rather odd that these two happen to be reincarnated so many times (Miang's is explained as all women on the planet came from the Mother, so Miang is reborn through these women.) Anyway, my theory has to do with how Jin would have been reborn as Citan because far as I know, there is no one else in Xenosaga with a strong physical/personality resemblance other than Abel and Nephilim. Note how Kos-Mos' body was left behind in the space and Chaos' voice was heard, apparently... meaning that it's actually quite possible that Xenosaga 3 can indeed, lead into Xenogears. (Rather, the alternative version of Xenogears, I should say because: 1) Nephilim looks more like an older Elly rather than Mother which had blue hair but who's to say Mother really had blue hair to start with? As Xenogears isn't really clear on this, it says that Elly and Miang were one person, but... Elly's existence was because of Zohar and Miang was a program initiated by Deus (I'm not sure.) Nephilim's existence is connected to Zohar as well-- Zohar made her vanish, and I'm sure Abel made her come back into existence. 2) Someone mentioned that there wasn't a Wave Contact, but that's not quite right... UDO is technically a wave contact but its body is Abel. In Xenogears, the wave existence only communicated to Fei. No one else. 3) As for Jin... apparently, according to one translation of Perfect Work says that an Uzuki was on the Eldridge when it crashed. According to Xenosaga 3, this would have been Jin on the gnosisified Eldridge.
I keep hearing about how Zohar was created by mankind but the problem is that no one has ever said who made Zohar... it was never stated in Xenosaga series. It was "supposedly" stated in Xenogears but the translation was supposedly messed up. I don't see how the translation could have gotten messed up in Xenogears because they really did throw so many details at once that I'm still trying to sort through it ever since I first beat the game in 2003.

I guess we'll never know. Still I do know for a fact that Jin and Citan are not related. Takahashi himself said that the Uzuki's in XS and Citan are not related. Again he's not really an Uzuki. Anyways ******SPOILERS******* Miang is mother and so is Elly. Miang and Elly were once the same person. The one who awoke from the crash of the Eldridge was Miang and Elly (of course as one person, the blue haired woman at the beginning of the game.) The Wave Existence split them up, because she didn't want Deus to gain all of his strength (and she needed Elly to protect her Contact.) Elly/Miang are the biggest part in Deus' awakening, and so the Wave Existence sought to stop that by splitting The Mother into two seperate entities.
And like you said, Fei was the only contact of the Wave Existence. That's the reason Abel/Lacan/Kim/Fei never ceased to be, and that's also the reason Elly and Miang were always reborn. They are the biggest players in the game between Deus and the Wave Existence. Deus need both Elly and Miang to become complete, and the Wave Existence needed a weapon against Deus (which is Fei.) And so to keep her "puppet" safe she made Elly (the Mother) to protect the Contact until the final battle against Deus. All Miang was made to do, was to get the humans ready for Deus' awakening.

SPOILERS STILL 8U Even if Jin and Citan aren't related... but remember:
Fei isn't related to Abel, Kim, Lacan... except in the sense of past lives, so that's what I mean by my theory of this being true for Citan. Granted, Grahf was rambling about being able to possess Kahn easily because of similiar genetics or something. I was a little confused on that, maybe Perfect Works will clear it up. Though, if a person dies without having children, technically their genetics will have died... and not to mention that during Kim's era, humans were having trouble reproducing. So I'm not sure what the hell Grahf was talking about XD
About the wave contact and Elly... doesn't that sorta conflict the reason why Elly came in existence. Abel wanted someone... like, a mother to be there for him. Zohar produced Elly (hell, she appeared within Zohar's eye...) and as I understand it:
Zohar grants the person's strongest desire. Abel got Elly... and ah, let's see... this may have to do with what happened to Lacan as well. Lacan went insane from losing Sophia/Elly and felt powerless about it and he asked Zohar for power. This screwed him up as his physical body died from it and he became Grahf. (It does make sense why Grahf is always granting people powers, eh?) I don't know what Kim would have done but I don't think he could have been able to go out looking for Zohar... Unless Zohar responded to what was in his heart and buried the whole city. They didn't say how the city got buried, did they? If they did, I missed it because Xenogears tends to like, really throw so much at you that it still takes a while to digest even after this time. (Not a bad thing, it makes you think a lot. Xenosaga seems to be lacking in this department which is a little weird.)
...aaah. Sorry about not replying, my sister had her baby on sunday so I was out. DX Also, I'm up to Babel Towel-- Tower. (No seriously, I unconsciously refer to it as Babel Towel >.<) Babel Tower really sucks when you're playing on a tiny screen so it's difficult to time jumps but I managed to actually land on the roof of that one long box (first room in the dungeon) to get the chest with the ThunderRodG which I couldn't do before. Stupid Babel Tower.
