It's a mistake. Shishio didn't learn/use Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu ever. The text in the right-most text balloon is the dialog in question, yes? Hiko says: nandakanda itte Hiten mitsurugi Ryuu no kenkaku toshite Shishio wo houtteoku wa keni ha ikandarou I've retranslated this as "What is it? It is needless to say that as a swordsman of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu there is no way that I can ignore Shishio." Skip down a bit to where I talk about it more in depth. In any case, that's an interesting (and amatureish) mistake Viz made. I'll have to make sure I put that into the FAQ so others will know it's there and that it's wrong.

It would really be weird if Shishio used Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu anyway.

Version 1.1.1 is now up. In this version I've added two questions: the question about the symbol on the mountain and the Viz translation mistake. I've also updated the OST list to include a few more OSTs that I just found out about a few hours ago.
Enjoy.

Version 1.1.2 has been added.
Not a whole lot in this one. One question and I fixed a few minor errors I saw, plus I was able to confirm that RK was, in fact, in Shounen Sunday thus I touched up the very first answer. I also added the name of the opening song from the RK movie in the answer of the various opening/closing songs (it's at the very end of the answer right before the next question).
Other than that, I'm working on expanding the site to host information on the two main specials that were "lost" when the series was brought to America as well as adding information about O.R.O. Radio in case I bring it back. So look for that stuff sometime later.
And that does it for this update.

Version 1.1.3 was uploaded and I forgot to make note of it. Only one new question (and that's basically just a short description of what the Yahiko no Sakabatou one-shot is). I fixed a few minor things. I don't even remember what they were now. Anyway.. dunno when the next version will be uploaded. I haven't had any new questions asked. As for the other two sections of my site, those will just have to wait a little longer. I have other things to take care of now.

Well, I've started to do something that some people probably won't like. Version 1.1.4 is up now. This version is basically just laying groundwork for the next version (whenever I stop being lazy and just get it overwith). Basically I took out the TABLE OF CONTENTS (the section is still there but it only has a few notices) and moved the question list to the website. I've also created a new section entitled "NEW QUESTIONS" which will house the most recent questions that are added so that people can find them quickly. Now that might be all well and good but why do I think people will hate me? I need to reorder all the questions. I hate how I have questions about Yahiko no Sakabatou at the end of the question list. It should be up with the question about the Kenshin Kadan and Meteor Strike. So the order of questions will change as soon as I figure out how to group them. And that's all, since no one else has been posting anything.

lol Well, there were a lot of questions being asked lately. Though it's slowed down to almost nil now. That's why I took the slow time to go ahead and reorganize the entire FAQ. Now there's catagories of questions and the order of questions have changed in some instances. I also included information on the two (very elusive) Rurouni Kenshin NOVELS (yes, novels. Not artbooks, not manga, NOVELS!). So now I present to you... Version 2.0.0Download on the main page or you can click here to read more information on it (though I basically summed it up in this post).

I'm not pleased with the translation of the bubble above. I'm not entirely convinced that's what it says (what I originally had). After a full week of doing little other than translating I have gone back to the original dialog and have been picking it apart word by word.
Original: Hiko: ‰½‚¾‚©‚ñ‚¾‚¢‚Á‚Ä”ò“VŒäŒ•—¬‚ÌŒ•‹q‚Æ‚µ‚ÄŽuX—Y‚ð•ú‚Á‚Ä‚¨‚‚킯‚É‚Í‚¢‚©‚ñ‚¾‚낤@@@(Japanese encoding needs to be on to see this correctly)
Romanji: Hiko: nandakanda itte Hiten mitsurugi Ryuu no kenkaku toshite Shishio wo houtteoku wa keni ha ikandarou
Translation: Hiko: What is it? It is needless to say that as a swordsman of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu there is no way that I can ignore Shishio.
Actually, the "what is it?" could also be "one way or another." But given the context of the previous line (him saying that he'll teach Kenshin) the "What is it?" seems to fit a little better. And as you'll notice, that's way different than either Viz or Maigo's translations. I'm guessing that Maigo took some liberties when translating her copy (as do most translators). Viz, however, was just completely wrong.
I updated this in the FAQ though I didn't bother to update the version #.
