So it looks like the Nintendo Revolution console finally got the official name. It's Nintendo Wii. Thanks to NW, who showed me the story. Here's the news story about it

Don't feel bad Zoka, I thought the same thing when NW posted the name to me.
Out of all of the systems, I thought the Revo--er I mean.. Wii--would be the best, simply because you can download old NES/SNES/N64 games and play them. I was planning on getting this one first..but now I'm not sure.

I've dubbed it Lil' NW.
Seriously though, mostly everyone is having the same reaction to the name. "WTF?!" They're not leaning towards it either. I do hope that Nintendo eventually renames it the Revolution again...
Edit:
Yeah, I thought the same thing too when I first saw it. "Nintendo Wifi... wait, where's the f?"

Obviously Nintendo is trying to confound us in to thinking this device may be as awesome as there Wifi connectivity for DS (Believe me, Mario Kart on Wifi is indeed awesome).
which leads me to: hows the online looking for this Wii?
Sneaky sneaky Nintendo... THEY HAVE NOT WON US OVER YET!

"as awesome as there Wifi connectivity for DS "
Or lack thereof. ;_;
My router crashes constantly whenever I use WEP instead of WPA, and even though I've tried the WEP setting the wifi connectivity wouldn't work.
I could always try buying one of those USB doohickeys and see if that works, but that's not really something I want to spend 35 dollars on when I bought this router for much more.

I've read that you'll also be able to download Genesis games as well. Most likely I'd only use the online to download the older games. I'm still going to end up buying this before I do the PS3 though.

Mr. NW I do believe the problem is more related to wireless routers,
They Suck!
well, in my experiance anyways.
And Genesis games, that could just be interesting, but Dreamcast games, that would make me buy it!

Downloading Genesis games seals the deal. Gunstar Heroes and the Sonic games would be the first ones I'd go after. Dreamcast games would be awesome too, but some people say that if Sega were to go back into the console business they probably wouldn't want to give away all their games to Nintendo...
And yeah, wireless routers do suck. The freedom from wires is a good thing and when it runs smooth it's a sight to behold, but when the connection problems start happening it only leads to frustration. They need to add a wifi tower or something in this town. I know that my college has wifi access all across campus so wifi for the Wii/DS across town would be awesome.
(Then again the town I live in hates change so they'd rather waste thousands of dollars screwing up a project rather than making something fun for everyone to enjoy.)

First a comment on the name...
How funny would a kid sound saying "Mom, I'm gonna go play with my Wii now." What do they think it'll be so fun you'll be saying WEEEE the whole time you play it?! *grumble grumble.* I liked the Revolution name so much more.
As far as dling old Genesis games, YAY!! Considering that I lost my entire collection of old titles, the "Wii" is looking very very appealing. Just hoping they don't cost an arm and a leg to download. I mean I don't wanna pay more than $5 per game (if even.) to play old stuff from the past, 'specially if I can just run down to the pawn shop and spend $20 get the whole system, and a few games.
