My copy of the game arrived. Hoozah! I've only had a small chance to play it (since I have to work today) but I can tell you that it's going to be awesome. I don't have a memory card yet, so I can't save, so I won't get too far without having to quit. That's fine by me, though, as I need the practice making the combos. If you pick to play as Kenshin it starts off with the Kenshin vs Jin-e fight as a tutorial. It teaches you how to do some of his movies (like Ryu Tsui Sen) and the basic controls (L1 to target someone and enter a battoujutsu stance, O to dash/dodge, X to jump, square and triangle to swing the sword, etc). The fighting system seems to be kind of similar to Devil May Cry. I'll try to capture some video or pictures from it and post them somewhere. More will definitely come here when I have a memory card and learn how to play it more effectively.

Well, I've beaten Kenshin's story mode. I did it without entering Hitokiri/desperation mode, too, so I unlocked Aoshi. But let me tell you, that was not an easy feat. Kenshin's story follows the series pretty much exact. You fight the guards in the village, fight Senkaku, fight Soujirou, have to get a new sakabatou, fight Chou (with and without sheath), have to train with Hiko (who I thought was hard at the time but is nothing compared to some of the later battles), etc etc. If you know the Kyoto arc of Rurouni Kenshin you can follow Kenshin's story with ease. Shishio is, by far, THE HARDEST boss I've EVER fought in ANY video game. You think I'm joking? You fight him three times. The first time he's not TOO bad. It took me about 10 tries to beat him. The second and third times, though, he's out for blood. It took me about 60 tries to beat him. The third time... he can use his ougi which is instant death no matter how much life you have. Also, even though my strength stat was maxed for this fight, he can take tons of hits over and over without slowing down. If he ends up hitting you with a combo, you might as well let him finish you off. At least half of the times I lost he ended up using a combo on me, giving me no chance to dodge/attack back and beat the crap out of me. Took me over 100 tries to beat him in this stage. Upon beating the game you can unlock omake (bonus material). This time through I unlocked Aoshi (because I didn't use desperation mode), two sound clips (?? I haven't fully figured out what this is yet), and an extra costume for Kenshin (his Battousai-in-the-revolution outfit and hair style, complete with two swords). It also unlocked a special "survival mode" kind of like the bloody palace of DMC3 where you fight tons of men and bosses. However, due to my hands KILLING ME by this time (thanks Shishio) I stopped after level 2 (which you fight Jin-e on). I have three new story modes to complete now, hoozah. Here's some clips of the game, all hosted on Youtube: Hiko pwning me (sound is out of sync) vs Soujirou the first time (sound is out of sync) vs Chou the first time (sound is out of sync) vs 40 guys for xpvs Aoshi for the 3rd timevs Shishio and losing (he uses his ougi) vs Shishio 3 times and winning (almost 10 min long) Kenshin's alternate outfit (on the 1st level of the survival mode) More videos will come, especially when I start playing the other stories. And if I get REALLY bored, I ended up saving around 11 clips of Shishio beating me so I can somehow splice all of those defeats into one video and add some Benny Hill music or something). Should be entertaining.

Time for an update. I've had this game for a few months now and have played the crap out of it. I've beaten everyone's story, except for Saitou (whose story involves more understanding of the Japanese as opposed to the others). I've played Kenshin's the most, trying to get his stats to max so that I can stand a better chance at winning the survival mode (I keep getting killed by Hennya). In the last post I made I ranted about how hard Shishio is. However, once you level up your stats a bit more, and max out some of your techniques, Shishio becomes a piece of cake. With Kenshin I can beat him in three minutes or less now (for all three times, that is!). I also learned a cheap way of beating him using Aoshi and Sanosuke that makes it impossible for him to even land a hit on me (and thus I get perfect and the most xp). Anyway, here's a list of some more videos. Kenshin vs Shishio, second timeBattousai vs 100 men (Kenshin's desperation) Start of Aoshi's story, Aoshi vs KenshinAoshi vs OkinaAoshi vs ShishioSano vs SaitouSano vs 16 menSano vs IwambouSano's Zanbatou (Sano's desperation mode) And finally... Shisho pwns Kenshin again and again (set to Benny Hill music!)

I AM GOING TO KILL THE DEVELOPERS OF THIS GAME FOR MAKING HENNYA SO FREAKIN STRONG!! ROOOOOOOOOAR!!
This is at least the 10th time I've lost to him. He's so cheap. This is driving me nuts. I want to beat the survival mode and I know he's going to be the only boss to stand in my way. At least now, after all this, I know HOW to beat him. I just need to get lucky.
