Gather here near the fire and listen to a tale. A tale of some brave adventurers who went out on a quest. A quest to save Skara Brae from evil. Here be the list of those stupid--er I mean brave--enough to take on this quest.
After a brief stop at the local blacksmith's shop, they were off. It wasn't too long before they ran into a bunch of baddies.
Alas, poor Iyou and Smz did not survive the battle. With two dead bodies in tow, the party went to the local healers to see if anything could be done. Or, at the very least, stop the two from coming back as brain-eating zombies. They even got a nice Kobold to stop frothing at the mouth long enough to help them.
The healer told them that it would cost 300 gold a piece. The party, being poor after spending every last coin on their raggedy equipment, could not pay and the healer promptly threw them out. To make matters worse, Slade decided that this mission was just a little too risky for him and snuck out, stealing the Kobold with him to sell on the animal black market. This left the party without a sixth member. Oh the horror!
Thankfully a new and upcoming hunter heard about the party and decided to join them. His name was BishounenNightbird (or NB for short). And with him at their side, the party set out to try and raise 600 gold to revive their fallen companions. What better means are there to raise gold than to fight monsters?
Too bad these were no ordinary orcs. They were a set of special man-orc hybrids. The party was fighting something out of their league. And one by one they were slaughtered until none remained.
Most of you probably think that this is the end of the tale. After all, we have a cast of dead heroes. How can this go on? Well, children, just you stay tuned and find out.... next time.
This isn't really an LP of Bard's Tale for NES. It's more like.. I got bored, created a party, started playing it and now want to try and add some kind of goofy plot to it. This thread can also be a discussion for anything and everything Bard's Tale (including the newer PS2 version that is nothing like this game here).
I'll start off by saying that this game is @#(&@# hard. Iyou and Smz died pretty much the first battle. Without enough gold to revive them, I had to go and try to find more. They died shortly after. I've found that the only way you can really survive in the beginning is to create a bunch of dummy characters that you'll never use, add them to your party, steal their money, delete them and recreate them. Do this for about 30 minutes and you'll have enough gold to buy all of the best equipment in the shop and might stand a chance. Might.
