Thats right! Im back, after an extended abscence from online existance, I return with even more movie reviews!! mwuahahaha!
So lets get started!
The Abandoned:
Thats right, the last of the 8 horrorfest flicks finally made its way to DVD.
Woo Hoo!
Story: A woman seeking to find out more about her past travels to Russia, finds out her parents are dead, and that she inheirited a house. She decides to pay the house a visit to perhaps uncover some clues as to who she is and who her family was...
Good: Easily the creepiest movie of all the Horrorfest bunch, Great story, and good effects. It easily put all the other movies to shame.
Bad: Sometimes a bit confusing.
What The!?: Time hopping hootinany and lets feed babies to the pigs! Whheeeee doooogies!!
Too Shocking For Theaters: Apparentally nothing, since it won and went all around (except to anywhere near me.) However if I were to fathom a guess, it'd be the ultra creepiness and the pigs that loooove to eat people.
The Abandoned is easily the best Horrorfest flick of the bunch, it excells in everything that I like about horror movies, and didn't have a happy ending. Woo hoo! 5 out of 5.
Hostel II
So, here we are, the inevitable sequel to one of the most shocking horror films around. Was it as good as the original? Does it live up to the hype of having the sickest ending in Horror movie History? ...Nope.
Story: Gee lemme guess, hmm.. some people go stay at a European hotel, and then get kidnapped and offed one by one.. Wowee. Just like the first movie. Except this time, its WOMEN! *SHOCK!!*
Good: Nice gore. Acting was decent. Some truly cringeworthy moments.
Bad: PREDICTABLE!! If you pay attention to the story, you can pretty much figure out everything that will happen (this includes the OMFG super hype too shocking ending.) Not nearly as engrossing and heart stopping as the first, and not nearly as satisfying. (unless you happen to be a super femminist then you'll be pretty happy.)
What The!?: Did that dog just eat that?! OMFG!! I can't believe I just saw that. (you'll know when you see it.)
So in all, Hostel 2 wasn't nearly as fun and scary as Hostel 1. I'd say this one is 'Hostel for girls.' A good try, but not good enough.. 2 1/2 out of 5.
Spider Man 3
FINAAAAAAALLLY!! The movie I've been waiting for is HEEEEEEEEERREEE!!! REVIEW!!!!
Story: If you don't know this, you obviously haven't seen one of the bajillion previews that show just about the entire movie on TV or the internet or even heard it on the radio. So.. yeah.. Im skipping it.
Good: VENOM!! YAYAAAY! Nice SFX (as to be expected.) Good acting.
Bad: Whee magic plothole gas!! Spider Man on his way to save Gwen Stacy, and in a show of great agility goes between, around, over all kinds of falling chunks of building and finally saves Gwen at the last moment, however all the falling Debris magically vanishes, never to hit the ground! Not enough Venom, a bit much on the drama.
What The!?: It took 3 or 4 years to make this, It has the one villian EVERYONE has been clamoring for, and its worse than the other 2. What gives!?
All in all Spider Man 3 was a good movie. However I think it suffered from Batmanitis, wherein it tried to include too many villians and just ended up feeling a bit rushed. The worst of the Spider-triliogy, its still a good fun movie. 3.5 out of 5.
