Info: Asura was created to be the first US server. I got the game when it first came out, and for the first month everyone played on the Japan servers. Asura was opened, and everyone was given a one time option to transfer when the server went public. Tip: Make sure you put anything on auction for a few gil less than what your average item goes for. If your item is the cheepest, it is the first to go. If you price what commonly goes for 1000gil at 950gil, and someone bids 1000gil, you get 1000gil (however if they bid 950, then that is all you get). But playing it smart will help you sell items faster. You probley allready know this, but thought I would say it anyway. Free Strategy Guide: When I played this game a year ago, I had a membership with this site. It offers a lot of good tips, awesome legal strategies, and even some naughty little exploits (use wisely). www.multiplayerstrategies.com/user: darkanx pass: skullfire Anyone is welcome to use it, it expires in a month, so save good stuff.

Ah, okay. I was wondering about the Asura server.
Yeah, next time I log in, I was going to put the rest of my stuff I need to get sold on the AH like that so I can try to mine a bit more.
Cool, thanks for the url and stuff.

Wow. What a DIFFERENCE six hours makes. Tried leveling in the first jungle yesterday afternoon from 4 pm to around 6:30 pm (then I had to stop to go DM my pen&paper FFRPG campaign, lol). We didn't get hardly anywhere. In fact, after all the arguing was said and done I think we pulled two mandras, which we beat just fine, a smithy that massacured the entire party (EVERYONE died), another mandra then another smithy that we barely beat. Then everyone except Cal and I disbanded. We figured we'd try to duo "tough" mandras. That was interesting. Neither of us died, but it took over 15 minutes to kill just one. But we managed to get over 100 xp each time we did though. Finally we just agreed to log off and wait six hours, so midnight my time, to try again. Skip ahead six hours. It's now around the time the Japanese players are starting to log in (well, some are already logged in, but more are logging in now since it's later in the afternoon). Cal puts together a party and invites me into it. Here's what I saw: WAR 28/MNK 14 (me) WHM28/BLM 13 (Cal, and yes I'm aware of his underleveled sub) WHM28/BLM 14 WAR 28/NIN 14 NIN 29/WAR 14 NIN 27/WAR 13 "Isn't this kind of a weird set-up?" I asked him but he reassured me that it'd be good. Just wait and see. The group asked if we wanted to go to the SECOND jungle. The entire two+ weeks I've been in Kazham I had NEVER been to the second jungle. I didn't even know how to get there. Unfortunately, after everyone said "yeah, sure" the people who DID know how to get there zipped along, leaving me and Cal stranded behind wondering how to get there. Around 30 min later we were all there though, so it didn't matter. We find a really nice camping location and set up camp. We decided the two NIN would tank and I would just become a regular damage dealer (for the first time in twenty levels!! I was so happy). So the other WAR goes and pulls a mandra from this jungle and we start fighting. Suddenly I notice Cal's HP is going way down and he dies. It turns out the other WHM had casted Dia on a White Lizard that hung around in the caves. I was the only member of the party to escape (don't ask me how, especially since I didn't even know where the zone was). He left without saying sorry or goodbye and we replaced him with another WHM (same levels). After all the raises were done/curses vanished, we tried again. Here's where I say "WOW" because...well..WOW! I reached level 29 within 30 minutes. Here I was thinking I wouldn't even get 1/2 way to level 29 and I reached it! What surprised me even more is that we weren't slowing down. Well, we did sort of after an hour. A few members had leveled up and said they were dragging xp and found just as good replacements. Once we got back into the swing of things I decided to write down how much XP we were getting per kill and add it up over the course of an hour. Total? 3408. Wow. That's probably the most XP I've ever gotten in this place. I don't know how much XP we got totally, but I was there for six hours and there was very little downtime in between kills. Most of the time we were getting over 200 xp, though there were a few times when it was going down considerably (that's when the people found replacements and left). As you can imagine, I managed to go through two levels and halfway into the last. Unfortunately it came at the cost of our sleep. So we were way too tired to go back out of that jungle (we're hiding in a cave) and couldn't even THINK of attempting an advance job quest. I have class tonight and midterms next week so I should be studying, hard. I don't know when I'll have time to do the samurai quest just yet. The only times I'll really get to play are after midnight central time (probably it'll be more around 2 or 3 am on average). I think I can do the paladin quest myself, so at least I'll have something to do in the offtimes and to keep me occupied. Plus if I get my paladin up to level 5+ I can use it as a subjob when helping Scott get his magiked skull from the ghouls (Paladins get a bonus against the undead and it carries over if you sub it)..well, once he's level 18. We'll see I suppose.

Paladin was so unbelieveably easy to unlock I nearly died laughing. I kept reading, on other boards, that PLD would be so hard because of Davoi. Psh. I had Scott buy me a stack of prisim powder and a stack of silent oils (which was quite expensive, I didn't know how much they were) and headed from Kazham to Ordelle's Caves to finish the second Squire's Test (since I had started it but never did it). That took longer than Davoi, seriously. I didn't know how to get to that waterfall so I ended up running around for an hour, lost, until I logged off and re-read everything about that particular place and found the way to go. Since I was level 30 nothing aggroed me, though I was afraid there would be a gil seller to pull a bunch of crap to get rid of me (since I've read lots of horror stories like that). Anyway, I unlocked the paladin's quest, rode to Davoi (which probably took longer than actually going to the well inside) and entered. I fumbled once, not realizing that I should have used the prisim powder last (I've never done this before, cut me some slack!). I then followed the river until it said my oil was about to run out, so I reapplied. Then I realized that I should have either clicked it off first or let it run out first because no sooner than when I reapplied it, it ran out. Another fumble. Yeesh. So I reapplied both, again, and got to the well. The mush was there but it only aggros to sound, or so I heard, so I walked up right next to the well, turned off the prisim powder, touched the well and used a scroll to warp home. I ended up using 3 powders and 3 oils, only because I fumbled a few times. Easy. As. Pie. Now I'm a level 8 paladin (would be higher but I had to switch back to WAR for 2 hours last night to help Cal out). Paladin is pretty fun, I have to admit. I rather enjoy the ability to cure myself, especially when it's down to him or me. It really adds a sweet advantage. My PLD looks like a dork though Now if I can just get him caught up to Scott so we can party together in the dunes.

I got paladin up to level 15 SOLOING it. Let me tell you, it's really time consuming but I refuse to go to those awful dunes until I'm level 16. I'm really, really loving the natural defense against the undead (Holy Circle is wonderful) and I think I've finally gotten the hang of the cure macros I made. I also love just healing random people I see resting or around the starting city. It's kind of fun being nice and making people feel welcome. *Shrug* The only thing I truely dislike about pld is the amount of equipment, and the price of said equipment, that has to be bought. When I first unlocked paladin I had 75,000 gil sitting around in my MH collecting dust. Now I'm down to 20,000 gil and I still have 3 things to buy (another stack of fish kabobs, another stamina ring and an onyx earring). Chances are, I only have enough to afford one. Though I also have to say that I did spend around 19k for the expansion to the moogle house safe, if my moogle ever brings it back (boards say he was supposed to return in 3 hours..it's been.. uhh... 12+). Making money also sucks beyond belief now. The gil sellers are really getting out of control. I mean, they were bad before.. but now it's like.. I don't know..double bad. Or something. Forgetting logging, every single tree has a gil seller watching it. Forget mining, same deal (though I guess mining is the lesser of the two). I even saw gil sellers (blatently obvious ones) farming in areas that they used to never venture to (the highlands for example) and the only other area I used to spend all my time farming was the hill in north gustaberg with all the hornets. Now, of course, it's overran with so many people that it's hard to find a bee unless you're playing at really oddball hours (and even then, it's still fairly crowded). Not to meniton the drop rate on the beehive chips must have changed. I literally killed 100 hornets (I was keeping track) and only walked away with four beehive chips. Of course, I don't have TH, but I know for a fact that when I used to farm there a month ago that it wasn't this bad. I usually walked away from the hill with a full stack within an hour. Yikes. Don't know what I'm going to do for money. But I must say, I enjoy Paladin.

We could always go farm the heck out of orcs and get tons of fire crystals. Currently I'm leveling Monk now instead of Thief since I can kill enemies easier with Monk, so I'll probably use this as the Main job as soon as I can get my Warrior to level 18 (which should't take -too- long I hope). Current levels that I have (as of today): Warrior - 16 Thief - 12 (I think, I'll check when I can) Monk - 7 White Mage - 2 Black Mage - 2

Well, got my own copy of the game (yay, I think), so I can be online when I want. Had to start over though, but I transferred my gil and items over, so that's not too bad.
Also realized my computer keyboard is not USB. >_< Probably tomorrow or Friday I'll go to Office Max and get a keyboard so I can take pictures and stuff.
I'm Elvaan right now, for a change. Usually I am Human (or Hume for FFXI) for basically everything, so I figured why not? Just recently got to level 10 Warrior with him too (Take a guess what his name is? XD).
Um, I guess that's about it for me on FFXI now.

I'll try to get pictures of the chracter when I can. Also, I realized I could have used a sword when I was leveling Thief. That would have made things much better if I did that. Ah well I suppose. Now my Warrior is at level 13, and my Monk is at level 10. Probably later today I'll try as hard as I can to get as much exp as I can for my Warrior class so I can go party in the dunes (I'm not really wanting to go back there until level 16 or whatever). My current defense is 82! That's kind of scary (mainly it's due to my equipment. Coarse Gauntlets and Boots, Solid Mail, Face Guard +1 and Scale Cuisess (or whatever they are)). Only downside is that it's a lot of gil for the higher defense stuff (Well, just the Solid Mail, which was 14k I think. That's nothing to what I have for level 16 ). When I hit that level, my defense possibly might be 100 or something. I already know with a Fish Mithkabob and Protect, it'll be 112. Guess that makes me a good tank? A few things good with being Elvaan is they're strong, and I think they have decent VIT as well. One big problem though is terrible accuracy. >_< Guess that balances out the STR, but sucks when you miss five times in a row. I got two rings to add to DEX when I get to level 14, then a necklace when I get to level 21. That's all I've done on FFXI, I think.

I'm afraid I lost a lot of interest in FFXI when SE wasn't taking measures to cure the problems that plagued the in-game community (mainly bots and gil sellers who were out for blood).
It's been a full month since the last time I played so I figured I'd hop in and see what's going on. I wasn't really shocked but I was surprised that a lot of the fishing bots that used to hang out in the mining area of Bastok are gone. However, there's still a few mining bots inside the Z. mines.
Apparantly I also missed a ton of quests since there's so many new NPCs that I can't even begin to name them all (including monster NPCs riding around on chocobos). Even with this, I really couldn't raise my interest that much. I spent 40 minutes of the hour I was on healing random people just to be nice.
I don't know what it's going to take for me to get back into the game, but I wish I could figure it out soon. I hate to be wasting $12 a month for a game I'm not even playing and can't seem to find interest enough to play.
